Dr. Liu received his PhD in Epidemiology from Peking Union Medical College in Beijing. He had postdoctoral training at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta and the Department of Pathology at Emory University. His primary research focuses on molecular epidemiology, water and environmental microbiology of pathogens causing foodborne and waterborne diseases. He has extensive experience in molecular virology, metagenomics, statistics, epidemiology, and uses multidisciplinary tools to address the pathogenesis of norovirus infection in young children and transmission of enteric pathogens in environments.
